Celebration of Life: Services for Charles Conselman set for Friday, April 12

ROCKWALL, TX (April 9, 2024) – Charles Anthony Conselman passed away April 6, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas with his family by his side. He was 83 years old.

Charles was born February 28, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas to Dr. Frank Buckley and Grace Carter Conselman. Charles was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Mary Esther Greenberg Conselman.  They had 3 children together and 9 grandchildren.

Charles was known for his unconditional love for his family and all of their activities. He was always their biggest cheerleader, attending nearly every baseball, basketball, football, tennis, dance, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, and soccer game he could. He had a kind affection for animals, especially for his many dogs. Charles lived a life of honesty and integrity and was a true West Texas gentleman. He always had a smile or a joke, usually self-deprecating, to brighten your day. He was known to many as humble and kind. He had the uncanny knack of making every one of his children and grandchildren feel like they were his favorite.

Charles graduated from Abilene High School in 1959, TCU in 1963, served in the US Army for 2 years, followed by 4 years in the Army Reserve, leaving as a Captain. He went on to a successful career in the insurance business for 33 years before opening a Schlotzsky’s franchise in 1996 which, for 2 years, was the most successful Schlotzsky’s franchise in the nation. He opened 2 more Schlotzsky’s before retiring in 2013.

His interests were mostly sports and his grandchildren, and when you put both of those together, he was in heaven, as he is now. He loved to tell you about his “Homerun in Big Spring,”  baseball and football memories, and stories about any one of his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Esther Conselman; daughter Christy Ramirez and husband Michael; son Frank Conselman and wife Nicole; son Marc Conselman and wife Shelly. Grandchildren Charles and wife Nicole, Maddy, Jack, and Lauren Conselman, Addison, Cole and Audrey Ramirez, and Amelia and Reese Conselman, as well as one great grandson on the way, and many more loving extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Conselman, and his brother, Tom Conselman.
