Rowlett, TX (April 3, 2024) – Herfurth Elementary PTA is pleased to announce an upcoming Family Fire Safety Event, inviting families from Herfurth Elementary and the Rowlett community to participate. The event, organized in collaboration with the National PTA and sponsored by Kidde as part of the Cause for Alarmâ„¢ campaign, will take place on Saturday, April 6, from 12 – 2 p.m. at Herfurth Elementary (7500 Miller Rd, Rowlett, TX 75088).
The Family Fire Safety event aims to promote fire safety awareness and preparedness within households and equip families with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively to fire emergencies. Participants can expect an informative session covering topics such as the leading causes of fires, prevention strategies, and preparation techniques tailored for families.
“Fire safety is a critical aspect of household preparedness, and it’s imperative for families to have the necessary tools and knowledge to safeguard their loved ones and property,” said Angela Winstel, VP of School Relations of Herfurth Elementary PTA.
The Rowlett Fire Department, Rowlett Fire Corps, Rowlett Emergency Services, and the Rowlett Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will attend the event and provide critical information to families. Kidde will also offer free smoke alarms to attendees. Additionally, representatives from the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program and the Firefighter Programs at the GISD Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center will also attend to inform families about the emergency services educational pathways offered through the district.
The Family Fire Safety event will feature interactive discussions on fire prevention measures and practical demonstrations on creating a fire escape plan. Attendees can look forward to touring a fire truck and ambulance, fun games and activities, exciting prizes, giveaways, and light refreshments.
