Rockwall County Helping Hands honors volunteers

ROCKWALL, TX (April 25, 2024) Volunteers are the heartbeat of Rockwall County Helping Hands, and so naturally, during April’s Volunteer Appreciation Month, this nonprofit took a moment to honor these amazing individuals who selflessly give their time and skills to lend a hand to our Rockwall County neighbors in need.

Last year, these incredible volunteers clocked in an impressive total of 14,663 hours of service to Helping Hands. At the Annual Starfish Awards and Luncheon on April 23, held at The Parrish House, Helping Hands honored these superstars who’ve been making a huge difference in the agency and our community, and was made possible through the sponsorship of Texas Health Hospital Rockwall.

While all our volunteers are exceptional, special recognition was given to a few individuals that truly go above and beyond with their sacrifice of time and commitment to serve clients at helping hands. Each area of Helping Hands awarded a Volunteer of the Year Award, which we have named the Starfish Award.

The recipients were:

  • Assistance and Referral- Front Desk: Debbie Renfrow
  • Food Pantry: Annette Steinfeldt
