Royse City High School students soar at Skills USA Texas Convention

ROYSE CITY, TX (April 11, 2024) Royse City High School career and technical education students excelled at Skills USA TEXAS State competition April 4-6, with Fashion Design student Reagan Buchanan winning Best in Show Fashion Design Job Exhibit, and Audio Video Students Harrison Carter, Joel Burton,and Kameron Denson with a second place state finish in Career Pathway.

Skills Advisor Sherri Duggan highlights the experience for her students, “Working together to create a presentation to showcase our Audio Video Career Pathway requires teamwork and communication skills.  Kameron, Harrison and Joel were amazing at showcasing how our AV program at RCHS collaborates with businesses and supports our school and community.”

Advisor Lisa Davis added, “Skills USA not only gives my fashion design students a place to share their amazing work but also to not only develop workplace skills and learn how to meet very high standards of competition.”

In addition, RCHS students received recognition for job exhibits ranging from audio video production and animation to fashion design, Earning top scores of superior were students Jaime Balderas, Kristian Garza, Hillary Contreras, Bree Arnold, Harrison Carter, Celeste Garner, Reagan Buchanan, Serenity Mendoza, Peyton Hilborn, Alyssa Rogers, Jacqueline Ponce-Serrano, Teagan Welch, and Julia Chis. Excellent ratings for Job exhibits went to Joel Burton, Vion Gashi, Kameron Denson. Also competing for RCHS were  Aleeya Hernandez, Rey Hurtado, Aloma Porter, Serenity Mendoza, Bella Najera, and Johnny Williams.
