ROCKWALL, TX (May 6, 2024) Maxine Vines, a beloved resident of Brookdale Summer Ridge in Rockwall, celebrated her 104th birthday Sunday during a special gathering of friends of family at the senior living facility.
Maxine was born in Canton, TX on May 5, 1920. She happens to be the only one of her eight siblings to be born in Texas. Of her eight siblings, five are still living at ages 87, 89, 92, 93, and 100.
She and her husband had three boys and she now has grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She worked for an insurance company and then Dallas ISD until her 70s. Until she was 100-years-old, she taught Sunday School to children and then older ladies.
Does the centenarian have any advice for the next generation? “Be honest and truthful,” Maxine said. “Always be kind to everybody. Do what is right.”
Those are great words to live by!
