Texas Bar Association awards grant to Boys & Girls Clubs’ Rockwall Teen Center

Rockwall, TX (May 7, 2024) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Texas’ Rockwall Teen Center has been awarded a grant from the Texas Bar Association to support the establishment of a Keystone Club and the hosting of a Legal/Civic Mini Camp in the summer of 2024.

The Keystone Club, an integral part of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Character & Leadership program, will serve youth ages 13-18, providing a dedicated space for personal growth and community engagement. Supported by the Million Members, Million Hours of Service initiative, Teens Take the Lead will empower adolescents to become active participants in their communities through service-learning projects and leadership opportunities.

As part of this initiative, a one-week Legal/Civic Mini Camp will immerse teens in a comprehensive legal education experience. Participants will engage with professionals, tour local government agencies, and delve into topics such as cyberbullying laws, understanding rights during law enforcement interactions, and online privacy and security.

Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $27 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.

The grant from the Texas Bar Association underscores the critical importance of empowering today’s youth with legal literacy and leadership skills, equipping them to navigate the complexities of the modern world confidently.
