Rockwall, TX (May 16, 2024) – Texas Health Hospital Rockwall honored hospital volunteers and volunteer chaplains with a special luncheon celebration on April 24. Recognizing National Healthcare Volunteer Week, the hospital acknowledged the many hours of service these committed individuals provide.
“I am thankful for our volunteers; it is a choice they make to serve our patients and caregivers,” said Jason Linscott, Interim President. “They sacrifice time with family and friends to serve, and we are all blessed by them choosing our hospital to volunteer time.”
Texas Health Rockwall volunteers may be found in many departments of the hospital including the front lobby, Emergency Room, Women’s Imaging Center, and Human Resources. With smiles and warm greetings they welcome guests, escort patients, distribute snacks, deliver flowers and mail throughout the hospital as they assist staff, patients, and visitors. Volunteers also offer administrative support preparing information packets amongst other projects.
Volunteer chaplains provide care for patients as well as hospital staff with personal visits, prayer, and a listening ear. This group of dedicated caregivers are present in times of crisis and times of joy, while also taking time to personally recognize Veteran patients who have served in the armed forces.
At the luncheon, the assembled group of 13 volunteers and three chaplains were applauded for the difference they make to the hospital mission with over 12,000 hours of combined time! Long-time volunteers, Prudy Arnold and Karen Roelofs, each received special recognition for providing over 3000 hours of individual service. They were surprised and elated that former hospital president, Cindy Perrin, recently retired from Texas Health Rockwall, was present for the recognition.
Individually and collectively, the volunteers are passionate about making a difference. Becky Welch, current volunteer auxiliary president, says they do this believing they best serve others by helping relieve any amount of anxiety or stress they can.
The hospital volunteer team includes Breanna Aguirre, Prudy Arnold, Belen Beltran, Lyndell Davis, Jennifer Davis, Sandy Doyle, Dottie Galloway, Sharon Howell, Lois Montana, Karen Roelofs, Tim Schaefer, Becky Welch, and Suzanne Wilson. Three volunteer chaplains Johnny Crenshaw, Alma Doggett, and Alan Jackson complete the volunteer organization.
