ROCKWALL, TX (June 14, 2024) – When passing by the Rockwall County Courthouse on Yellowjacket Lane, you may have noticed ongoing construction work northwest of the building. The new Rockwall County Courthouse Annex, set to be completed next year, will be located at 1101 Yellowjacket Lane.
No longer will you need to compete for a parking spot in Downtown Rockwall and then possibly wait in line to take care of your vehicle registration at the Historic County Courthouse.
The new building will provide easy access and parking for visitors to the Tax Office. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by a check-in kiosk, which will help direct them to the appropriate clerk for their specific needs. Instead of standing in line, visitors can await their turn in the lobby. The office space will include desks for customers to use while processing their paperwork. Tax Assessor/Collector, Kim Sweet says better streamlined services will minimize wait times.
The county election office will be in the Annex and a large community room for early voting opportunities. The community room will also be available for public meetings and other functions such as a heating or cooling shelter during critical times of need.
Veteran Service Officer Linda Flannery is excited to offer quality service and essential support to a growing number of veterans and their families in the new county building.
Other offices that will be found in the Rockwall County Courthouse Annex include Environmental Health, the Geographic Information System Department and the County Auditor.
Funding for the Annex comes by way of the American Rescue Plan Act.
