ROCKWALL, TX (June 26, 2024) Today, Aaron McNeill, a Public Works employee in Rockwall, rescued a dog from a dangerous situation at Lakeside Village. While working on the Lift Station, Aaron saw a dog struggling in the water. The bank was too steep for the dog to climb, so Aaron jumped into the water and guided the dog to safety on a nearby pier.
The dog, clearly exhausted and unable to walk once on land, had no collar or tags. Aaron contacted the Rockwall Animal Shelter, where staff scanned the dog for a microchip but found none. The dog was taken to the shelter for safekeeping. A little while later, the dog’s owner was driving around calling for her lost pet. Aaron informed her of the rescue, and she was joyfully reunited with her dog.
This incident highlights the importance of ensuring pets have collars and microchips, especially with the 4th of July approaching—a time when many pets go missing due to fireworks. Aaron’s quick thinking and bravery are greatly appreciated by the Rockwall community!
We are thankful for our hard working employees during these dog days of summer!
