Heath, TX (July 11, 2024) – Chandlers Landing celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner and an awards ceremony at the Chandlers Landing Yacht Club on Saturday, July 6, 2024. This historic event was attended by state and local dignitaries and more than 120 residents.
Honored guests included Texas State Senator Bob Hall, Rockwall Mayor Pro Tem Clarence Jorif, Rockwall City Councilman Tim McCallum, Rockwall County Judge Frank New, Rockwall County Commissioner Dana Macalik, and Rockwall County Republican Party Chair Sharon Henson representing U.S. Congressman Bob Fallon. These dignitaries presented proclamations to the community after which Budd Pierce was honored as the community’s longest-standing resident, having lived at the same address since Chandlers Landing’s inception in 1974.
Special exhibits included an art show featuring works by Chandlers Landing artists, and video presentations showcasing the history of the community’s tennis and sailing sports clubs. One of the evening’s highlights was a wall-sized timeline depicting the milestones of the tract’s 158-year history (1866-2024) displayed in The Yacht Club foyer. This timeline was created by residents Mark Stuertz, David Miller, and Evan Matteson, who drew their information primarily from the Chandlers Landing History Facebook Group.
