ROCKWALL, TX (Aug. 20, 2024) – The City of Rockwall is currently seeking dedicated residents to serve on a City Charter Review Commission. This vital commission will play a crucial role in ensuring that the City’s charter continues to provide effective guidance for Rockwall’s governance, structure, and operations.
The City Charter is a foundational document that outlines the structure and powers of the City government. It is good practice to review the charter periodically to ensure it remains up-to-date, reflects current practices, and aligns with state law. The Charter Review Commission will thoroughly examine the existing charter and may recommend revisions or updates to City Council within a 6-month time frame. The City Council may then decide to submit revisions or updates for voter consideration in the May or November General Election.
Residents who are passionate about Rockwall’s future and wish to contribute to the City’s governance are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting an application is Monday, September 2, 2024. Applications can be filled out online: https://www.rockwall.com/citysec_boards.asp
