Royse City Police arrest suspect for trafficking and solicitation of a minor

ROCKWALL, TX (Aug. 23, 2024) On Thursday, August 22, 2024 at approximately 4:00 pm, the Royse City Police Department detained a suspect for reportedly trying to get a 15-year-old female to agree to engage in prostitution with him after offering the juvenile a ride home.

The subsequent investigation into the events determined around 3:45 pm on August 22nd, the victim, a 15-year-old female, was walking home from school along the IH30 South Service Road between FM 35 and FM 548 when an unknown male in a white SUV, approached her and offered her a ride home. The juvenile advised she voluntarily got into the vehicle and as the subject started to drive away, he told her that he was taking her to his house. The subject then began offering the juvenile money to engage in a sexual act with him but she refused. The juvenile stated the subject then pulled into a local gas station and told her to stay in the vehicle while he went inside to buy her a drink. The juvenile stated when the subject walked into the store that she got out of the vehicle and ran away.

The juvenile then noticed a Royse City Police Department Motorcycle Officer on a traffic stop on the street behind the gas station and she ran to the officer for help. While the juvenile was explaining to the officer about what had just occurred, the suspect vehicle was seen exiting the parking lot and driving away on Shaw Drive. The officer pursued and stopped the vehicle and the subject was detained without incident.

The victim who was not physically injured was taken to the Rockwall County Child Advocacy Center for a forensic interview. The suspect, identified as Daniel Leek, a 44-year-old male from Royse City, TX was later transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center and charged with Trafficking of a Person, a first-degree felony and Solicitation of Prostitution, a second-Degree Felony.

The Royse City Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. The police department is not aware of any similar incidents that have been previously reported and the police department has had no previous contacts with Daniel Leek. The information regarding this incident, the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle description has been forwarded to other law enforcement agencies to see if it matches any previous or ongoing investigations. There is no further information at this time.
