Meet HomeBank’s new Chief Lending Officer, Eric Stacey of Heath

A true relationship banker

ROCKWALL, TX (Sept. 24,2024) – HomeBank Texas recently announced the promotion of HBTX Senior Vice President-Commercial Lending, Eric Stacey of Heath, to his new role as Chief Lending Officer.

For the past two years, Eric has helped foster a culture of excellence within HomeBank while managing commercial lending activity and achieving financial and service goals for the independent, locally owned bank.

HomeBank Texas’ Rockwall branch is located at 105 East Ralph Hall Parkway.

“If you know Eric, you know he has a compass of honesty and integrity in all that he does,” said Landon Lowry, HBTX Chief Executive Officer. “Combined with his proven leadership skills, experience, and heart for helping others, I’m confident Eric will continue to help HomeBank grow and serve our community.”

HomeBank’s Chief Lending Officer Eric Stacey (far right) with AVP Credit Officer David Fiegelman and Executive Vice President Chris Prater took a swing at Rockwall Helping Hands recent Ryder Cup-format golf tournament at Buffalo Creek Golf Club. The event drew over 60 golf enthusiasts together in support of unity and philanthropy to support the mission of Helping Hands.

In his new role, Eric will oversee lending activities in HBTX’s Rockwall, Seagoville, and Dallas branches – leading and mentoring a team of high-performing lenders; further developing relationships with clients and community; monitoring risk management practices; and providing oversight of the bank’s continued financial health. He will continue to office in HBTX’s Rockwall location at 105 E. Ralph Hall Parkway, reporting directly to Lowry.

After talking with Eric for only a few minutes, it’s easy to see how he and HBTX are a perfect fit.

“I chose to get into banking at any early age,” said Eric, who has more than two decades of experience in commercial lending. “My grandfather worked at a bank, and I always looked up to him. They called him ‘Mister’ and he was very important. I grew up thinking, well, that’s what I want to do.”

Upon completing his post-graduate work, Eric went straight into banking. “I discovered the best thing about banking is hearing people’s stories – where they started, where they are now, and ultimately, where they are going. You get to know people both personally and professionally.”

He went on to describe HBTX as true relationship banking.

“With trust and integrity at the core of everything we do, relationships develop. That means we’re not only able to accomplish a job from A to Z through whatever product or service we’re offering – but we’re also able to identify additional ways in which a product or service may benefit the customer. We may pick up on options or opportunities that the customer didn’t think of. By getting to know the customer, we can really provide value,” he said.

Eric added that whenever you call HomeBank, you get a live person. “Our employees are empowered to make decisions,” he said. “So more often than not, the banker you speak to is the same person you’ll deal with from the beginning of the transaction to the end – whether it’s a simple service issue or complex opportunity.”

Another reason HomeBank is unique, Eric said, is that it is wholly owned by a Rockwall County resident who not only lives here locally, but who has created a culture of community involvement.  “A rising tide lifts all ships,” Eric said. “Nearly every employee is involved in a civic group or service organization. As a bank, we support Helping Hands, the YMCA, Meals on Wheels, the Children’s Advocacy Center, Rockwall Art League, and a whole lot more. We don’t just write a check and let our dollars do the talking. We are boots on the ground, for the betterment of community.”

Eric and his wife of 16 years, Amanda, enjoy spending time on the driving range at Buffalo Creek, playing tennis and soccer.

Eric himself serves on the JER Chilton YMCA Board of Management and supports the Y’s Angel Camp program for kids with special needs. He is active in the youth ministries at First Baptist Rockwall. He lives in Heath with his wife of 16 years, Amanda, and their two daughters. Together they enjoy spending time on the driving range at Buffalo Creek, playing tennis and soccer.

“I have a lot of fun at work, too,” Eric said in closing. “We take our work at the bank very seriously, but we have a good time. We enjoy what we do. We have many employees who have been here a very long time,” Eric said. “I’ve only been with HBTX for two years, but I look forward to adding a zero to that – 20 years – and I know many of my co-workers share that same vision.”
