Lone Star CASA advocate Doug Pritchard and his wife Cynthia Pritchard
ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 4, 2024) — This past September, Doug Pritchard marked an incredible 15 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with Lone Star CASA. Appointed by judges, CASA volunteers are critical in advocating for the safety and stability of children who have experienced abuse and neglect in court. Throughout his life and career, Doug has passionately advocated for children in need.
Doug, affectionately known as “Uncle Douggie” during his years as a police officer in Southern California, advocated for elementary school students in Mesa County. He has built lasting relationships with the children he serves. In fact, on his first case as a CASA, he advocated for a teenage boy, and they keep in touch to this day. His deep-seated passion for advocacy shines through in every case he takes on, leaving a trail of hope and positive change. Remarkably, Doug serves two CASA organizations, contributing his invaluable advocacy to over 20 cases combined with Lone Star CASA since 2009 and CASA for Hunt County since 2018. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Doug for his extraordinary dedication and his service to advocating for children.
Reflecting on his journey, Doug shares ‘It’s absolutely amazing to be part of the lives of children who’ve been removed from their home and placed in foster care to then witness their transformation. These children come from horrific backgrounds and seeing positive results for them is what keeps me going.”
Chris Hoffmeyer, Lone Star CASA’s Child Advocacy Specialist, affirms, “Doug is unwavering in advocating for the best interest of the children he serves. His dedication to our mission is inspiring, and it has been my pleasure to work alongside him.”
Join us in celebrating Doug’s remarkable milestone and the countless children he has impacted over the past 15 years. As Doug emphasizes, “We need CASA Advocates, and we need them all the time. The caseload is growing, so we need CASA’s.”
