A Proven Leader Ready to Advocate for Students, Teachers, and Families
ROCKWALL, TX (April 9, 2025)— Audris Barnes, a respected educator, entrepreneur, and corporate leader, has officially announced her candidacy for Rockwall ISD School Board Trustee Place 5. With a background spanning education, business, and quality assurance/food safety, Barnes brings a wealth of experience and a fresh, balanced perspective to the district at a critical time.
“I’m running because I believe every student deserves a quality education, every teacher deserves respect and support, and every parent deserves to have their voice heard,” said Barnes. “My commitment is to serve with integrity, transparency, and a genuine heart for our community.”
Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, a Master of Science in Environmental & Occupational Health, and a Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership. Her professional journey includes leadership roles at Amazon, Deloitte, Walmart, Ecolab, and Chipotle Mexican Grill, where she specialized in training and development, operations, quality assurance, and people development. Today, she serves as an adjunct professor of Environmental Science at Collin College and is the founder of both Nana Dot’s Southern Sweets (online bakery that vends at the Rockwall Farmers Market) and Organizational Innovations, a consulting firm focused on building strong leaders and effective strategies.
Her campaign is anchored by six guiding principles:
- Fiscal Responsibility: Address the district’s budget deficit with long-term planning and community-centered solutions.
- School Safety: Enhance safety and security measures across all campuses.
- Support for Teachers and Staff: Advocate for competitive pay, professional development, and teacher retention.
