ROCKWALL, TX (April 11, 2025) This Memorial Day weekend 2025 marks the 14th year since Carry the Load held its first 20-hour 11-minute memorial walk around White Rock Lake in Dallas to bring back the true meaning of Memorial Day.
The following year, 2012, CTL established a cross-country relay beginning in New York and ending in Dallas on Memorial Day. Rockwall has been represented since the beginning of this movement and turned out big as the relay teams pass through Rockwall County, hosting a midnight rally at the Veterans Memorial at the Rockwall County Courthouse.
“We have hosted as many as 200 during some of these zero dark thirty rallies, including moms, dads, sons and daughters, veterans, first responders, students, and scouts, all to show that they remember and honor the sacrifice for those who gave their last full measure so we might continue to live in freedom,” Rockwall County Sheriff Terry Garrett told Blue Ribbon News.
On May 24, 2025, at 6:00 pm, we will welcome the Carry the Load Relay Team to Rockwall for the 13th year.
