Student at Ouida Baley Middle School detained for making threats
ROCKWALL, TX (April 25, 2025) On Friday, April 25, 2025, the Royse City Police Department detained a 12-year-old male student from Ouida Baley Middle School for Terroristic Threat.
The police department received a report that after school on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the student began sending text messages to another student threatening to bring a gun to the school and shoot certain individuals that he was upset with over a relationship breakup. After the report was made, officers were dispatched to the student’s home and an investigation determined the student had no access to firearms. The student has been taken into custody and charged with a Class A Misdemeanor. The safety of our students and staff is the Royse City Police Department’s and the RCISD Administration’s top priority. As we approach the end of the school year, we ask parents to speak with their children about making or posting any comments regarding school threats or violence. Please help them to understand that making these types of statements will result in serious ramifications including criminal charges being filed.
