Cars for CASA celebrates 20 years of community, classics, and compassion

ROCKWALL, TX (May 13, 2025) What began in 2005 as a modest car show with just 80 entries and a $2,600 fundraising total has since grown into one of the area’s most anticipated annual events—and a powerful force for good in the lives of children in need. On Sunday, May 18, Cars for CASA returns to the Rockwall County Courthouse for its milestone 20th anniversary celebration, presented by the Metro East Division of the Dallas Builders Association and the City of Rockwall.

This year’s Car, Truck & Bike Show is expected to draw more than 400 entries and hundreds of spectators – rain or shine – all rallying to support Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a nonprofit organization that provides trained volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in foster care.

Registration for vehicle entries will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with awards presented at 4:00 p.m. Enthusiasts from across the region will display a wide variety of restored and custom vehicles—from vintage classics to modern showstoppers—across the courthouse parking grounds.

“We are extremely excited to be hosting our 20th anniversary Cars For CASA event,” said Dave Hambley, who serves as Car Show Co-Chairman along with Doug Bowerman and Larry Baty. “It’s hard to believe the success of this event. Our first show had approximately 80 cars and raised $2,600. This year, we hope to reach our $100,000 goal, which would bring our total raised over the past two decades to more than $1 million.”

In 2024, Lone Star CASA:

>> advocated for 214 children in Rockwall and Kaufman counties.

 >> helped 88 of these children achieve permanency when their cases were closed.

>> traveled over 64,000 miles serving kids in their care.

Organizers credit the event’s longevity and success to the unwavering support of the community. “The people and businesses from our community are really the key to our success,” Hambley added. “With the help of our local sponsors, the City of Rockwall, the Dallas Builders Association, our 40-plus volunteers, our families and the community, we are proud to play a role in helping CASA kids rebuild their lives.”

Cars for CASA continues to be more than just a car show—it’s a celebration of community spirit, volunteerism, and the power of coming together for a cause that truly matters. All proceeds benefit Lone Star CASA and help ensure that children navigating the foster care system are heard, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
