Miles for Smiles
ROCKWALL, TX (May 7, 2025) Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month, a time to recognize older Americans’ contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm commitments to serving older adults.
The 2025 theme, Flip the Script on Aging, focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. This year, join them in honoring older adults’ contributions, exploring the many opportunities for staying active and engaged as we age, and highlighting the opportunities for purpose, exploration, and connection that come with aging.
Meals on Wheels Senior Services acknowledges this special tribute to Flip the Script on Aging in two ways. First, we will honor individuals and groups who contribute to improving a senior’s life with an Older American’s Day Celebration.
Second, we have a NEW online initiative to raise $20,100 before May 31st. MILES for SMILES is a digital fundraiser that lets you build your unique donation by selecting envelopes with values of $1 up to $200 of digital cash donations to help us reach our goal! Together, we can achieve our goal and make a difference. Every contribution helps us carry our mission forward and bring smiles to seniors in need. Go to RockwallMealsonWheels.org to participate or scan the QR code.
Flipping the Script on Aging is a movement everyone can support, as purpose, connection, and belonging are emotions everyone can embrace. There is no metric for how you feel. Age is a chronological measure of time. How you feel is often influenced by those you surround yourself with and encounter regularly. Meals on Wheels is building this community for all reasons. We cannot do it alone.
Meals on Wheels works hard to avoid waitlists for our homebound clients, and to date, we have met that goal. Your support is imperative to our mission, which is to keep the elderly and disabled citizens of Rockwall County living in their homes as long as safely possible through nutritious meals, daily human contact, and supportive services. As Rockwall County grows, so does our senior population. Awareness of others is a cornerstone of the people of Rockwall County. It has been that way for a long time, and we meet new volunteers and clients who are new to Rockwall daily and bring the same joy of serving and desire for connection that we have always experienced.
Join us as we Flip the Script on Aging and Pave the Way to our goal in May. Wheels up as we deliver independence to Rockwall County’s seniors & disabled citizens. It’s more than a meal.
