Flipping the Script: Rockwall Meals on Wheels celebrates seniors and those who serve them

ROCKWALL, TX (May 16, 2025) In observance of the nationally recognized Older Americans Month, Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County recently honored local seniors and volunteers who are helping to “Flip the Script on Aging.”

Each May, MOWSS, along with the five city mayors, the city government, and individuals, nominate several outstanding seniors—or those who serve them— to receive awards for their contributions to the community. This heartfelt nomination process celebrates citizens with remarkable contributions, spotlighting the inspiring stories and impactful service that enrich the lives of seniors in the area. This year’s Older Americans Day ceremony was held May 9 at the Rockwall County Library.

The 2025 theme, Flip the Script on Aging, focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. This year, join us in honoring members in our Rockwall community who are devoted to serving our aging population.

The Rockwall County Commissioners Court issued this proclamation for Older Americans Month and acknowledged Meals on Wheels for their essential work in helping elderly and disabled citizens of Rockwall County remain in their homes as long as safely possible.
