ROCKWALL, TX (July 11, 2025) You may have seen the recent, startling statistics that federal and ICE agents have experienced a 690 percent increase in the number of assaults committed against them in the first six months of last year. It’s no secret that this is a result of an uptick in violent, political rhetoric by far-left groups and individuals as a means to derail the Trump Administration’s significant efforts to carry out the mass deportation of criminal aliens. Under the open border policies of the previous administration, millions of criminal aliens illegally entered the US. Last November, the American people voted affirmatively for the crackdown on illegal overstays that President Trump promised and is currently delivering.
When it comes to increased political violence towards federal law enforcement, I have grave concerns about the new smartphone app “ICEBlock,” which enables users to post sightings of ICE officers around the country, making it easier for criminal aliens to evade them. Not only does this app hinder ICE’s capability to safely take criminal illegals into custody, but it is highly plausible that it subjects agents to an increased risk of physical assault and intimidation by other criminal actors who wish to do them harm. This is both appalling and reprehensible, seeing as ICE agents are law enforcement officers of the United States exercising their legal authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act to remove individuals that are in this country illegally.
Among the record number of illegals currently in the US are a significant number of known criminals, such as murderers, sex offenders and human traffickers, as well an untold number of individuals on the terror watch list. ICE agents work to enforce the laws on the books as a means to protect Americans and restore public safety, and they must themselves be protected.
Congress and the federal government must do all in their power to provide for the safety of our federal law enforcement officers who put themselves in harms way to crack down on illegal immigration, which is why the DOJ should open a probe into the ICEBlock app and determine the extent to which it puts federal agents at risk so that we may respond accordingly. My office is also working on legislation that would address this important issue.
As ICE and other federal agencies continue to make steadfast progress towards the Trump Administration’s mass deportation agenda, they will no doubt have to endure increased hostility from bad actors who wish to derail deportation efforts and keep known criminals on America’s streets. Time is of the essence to ensure the safety of our men and women in law enforcement.
ICEBlock is not some harmless tech novelty – it is a digital loophole for criminal aliens. While its creators might hide behind the veil of free speech, the app’s true purpose is dangerously transparent: to obstruct justice, embolden lawbreakers, and make a mockery of our immigration laws. When we allow this kind of targeted sabotage to go unchecked, we are not just compromising enforcement operations – we are putting American lives at risk. It is time to stop treating border security as a political game and start treating it like the national security priority it is.
