Royse City High School student detained for posting threat against school

Royse City, TX (September 5, 2025) – On Friday, September 5, 2025 around 8:15 am, the Royse City Police Department was made aware of a possible threat to Royse City High School that had been posted on Instagram. The threat was reported to the school’s administration by two students who had seen the post. The post was linked to a 14-year-old student who attended Royse City High School. School Administration notified the School Resource Officers on campus and the student was immediately detained. An investigation has determined the student was responsible for the making the post. The student has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class A Misdemeanor and transported to a juvenile detention facility.

This is the second high school student in two days that has been detained and charged with making a terroristic threat. The Royse City Police Department and the Royse City ISD Administration have zero-tolerance when it comes to these types of incidents. As we have stated before, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority. Threats of violence to any student, staff member and/or the school will not be tolerated. We again are strongly encouraging parents to have conversations with their children about the serious nature of making or posting any comments regarding school threats or violence. As a reminder that “Your Words Matter”, here is a video produced last school year from the school district that stresses the importance to “THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.”
