Rockwall ISD honors heroes at Veterans Day Ceremony

ROCKWALL, TX (Nov. 12, 2025) The Rockwall Independent School District community came together Tuesday morning to honor America’s heroes during its second annual Veterans Day Ceremony.

Guests filled the Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium concourse in red, white, and blue as we thanked our local veterans for their service. The Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy Marine Corps JROTC presented the colors, followed by a moving performance of the National Anthem by Rockwall High School student Phoebe Ishmael.

Rockwall ISD Superintendent Dr. John Villarreal welcomed guests and expressed gratitude to veterans and their families for their courage and sacrifice.

“Veterans Day reminds us that freedom is not free—it is protected every day by those who serve with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication,” Dr. Villarreal said.

The ceremony featured a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless the USA” by Emily Ford, a student from Rockwall-Heath High School. Mr. James Randolph Jr., a proud Marine Corps veteran, retired educator, and former Rockwall High School principal, delivered the keynote address. Randolph, who is also the namesake of James Randolph Jr. Hall at the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy, shared reflections on service, leadership, and the enduring spirit of America’s veterans.
Following his address, the ceremony continued with a wreath-laying tribute to honor veterans who have passed. As the wreath was placed at the foot of the American flag, attendees observed a moment of silence in remembrance, followed by a performance of “Taps” by Kobe Roland, a student at Rockwall High School.

MCJROTC Commander Earley closed the ceremony by thanking the community for their participation and ongoing support of programs that teach the values of service, honor, and respect.

“We are grateful for our veterans, our community, and our district leadership who continue to support programs that teach the values of service, honor, and respect,” Earley said. “We hope everyone leaves today feeling inspired and proud to be part of this community and this country.”
