ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 24, 2026) Longtime Rockwall resident and business owner, John Hagaman, announced today that he is running for Place 4 on the Rockwall City Council.
A 40-year resident of Rockwall, Hagaman has a proven track record of serving his community with conservative views and a commonsense approach. He was appointed to the City of Rockwall Architectural Review Board in 2023 after which was elected Chairman in early 2024. The City Council unanimously appointed him to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2024 and was selected by his peers to be the Vice Chairman in 2025, a position he holds currently.
“Rockwall has always been my home, and from growing up to raising a family, I live in Rockwall because it’s part of who I am and the community is so important to me” stated John Hagaman. “Because of this I have seen first-hand the good and bad decisions made about how to shape the future of Rockwall, his classic Rockwall values help to determine my opinions about the future vision for Rockwall.”
Since being appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Hagaman has fought against high density development, he has stood against multifamily developers, and he challenged commercial developers to raise their standards. Hagaman will ensure the comprehensive plan, that is currently under review, meets the expectations of the citizens and he plans to continue to push road development and expansion, financial support for local police and firefighters and responsible development of the small amounts of open land that Rockwall has left.
In his daily life, Hagaman is a local business owner and serves as President & CEO of Star Outdoor, a commercial maintenance firm. He is a proud 2000 graduate of Rockwall High School and obtained undergraduate and master’s degrees from Tarleton State University. He is married to his wife Julie and has one son who attends Rockwall ISD. Hagaman is a member of First United Methodist Church Rockwall.
