ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 2, 2026) Agnes Marcile Graham Smithson is about to turn 104!
Born March 7, 1922, in Arkansas, Marcile was raised on a farm alongside two brothers and two sisters. In 1938, she married the love of her life, Robert Lansing “Lance” Smithson, and the couple shared 57 years of marriage until his passing in 1995.
Marcile is the proud mother of four children — Lynden, Myrna, Dwayla, and Drew — and her legacy continues through many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.
In the 1940s, Marcile moved to California, where she built a life rich in creativity, service, and faith. A gifted seamstress and gardener, she was deeply involved in her local church. Ask any family member or friend, and they’ll tell you her famous fried chicken is simply the best.
Marcile accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and carried a lifelong heart for missions, especially supporting Love Lift, an organization that provides goods for children in an orphanage in Mexico. For more than 40 years, she led her local women’s church group at Living Waters Assembly of God in Fallbrook, California, sewing handmade items for missionaries around the world.
Although Marcile held various jobs over the years — including insurance and Avon sales — she often said her most important calling was raising her four children to follow Jesus Christ and become good citizens.
In 2024, Marcile moved to Texas and now resides at Lakeshore Assisted Living and Memory Care, where she enjoys delicious meals, participating in the community’s monthly auctions, and collecting items in her favorite color — lavender.
Happy soon-to-be 104th birthday to a remarkable woman whose life has been stitched together with faith, family, and love.
