ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (March 19, 2026) — Lone Star CASA is proud to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month this April by raising awareness about the importance of protecting children and supporting families across Rockwall and Kaufman counties. Throughout the month, the organization will join community partners, volunteers, and local leaders to highlight the critical role Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers play in advocating for children experiencing abuse and neglect and ensuring their voices are heard in the child welfare system.
Just last year, Lone Star CASA served 272 children who needed an advocate as they navigated foster care and the legal system in our community. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are dedicated volunteers—everyday citizens who are recruited, trained, and sworn in by a judge to advocate for children involved in the child welfare system. These volunteers provide children with a consistent, dependable presence and a sense of stability as they navigate an uncertain and often difficult time in their lives.
“Our volunteers always prioritize keeping families together whenever it is safe to do so,” said Lauren Rowe, Executive Director of Lone Star CASA. “Foster care is a temporary response to a crisis, but real change happens when communities come together to support families, make reunification possible, and break the cycle of abuse for the next generation.”
Lone Star CASA encourages the community to stand with CASA and partner organizations, including the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County and the Rockwall Rainbow Room, by attending one of the following Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation events:
