Rockwall County 4-H GLOBE Cohort Launches Community Impact Drive to Support Foster Teens

ROCKWALL, TX (March 26, 2026)  Students from Rockwall County 4-H’s GLOBE (Global Leadership Opportunities Beyond Education) Cohort are turning leadership into action with a community-wide Impact Drive for Foster Teens, focused on providing essential hygiene and personal care items to youth facing instability.

The initiative is led by Jeet Sodhi and Jind Sodhi, high school students of Rockwall Heath High School and members of the 2025–2026 GLOBE cohort, a program centered on leadership, global awareness, and service. Through immersive experiences such as a poverty simulation in Brownwood, TX and hands-on service at Houston’s Shamba Ya Amani farm, participants gained firsthand insight into the realities of poverty, food insecurity, and the importance of strong community support systems.

Jind Sodhi shared, Those experiences made me understand that small gaps in resources can quickly become overwhelming without support.”

Now, the cohort is addressing a need close to home.

Foster teens often lack consistent access to basic hygiene and personal care items, the things that many take for granted. Frequent moves and instability can make even everyday essentials difficult to maintain. Providing these items helps restore dignity, confidence, and a sense of normalcy during some of the most formative years of their lives.

Jeet Sodhi explained the motivation behind the initiative: When we were thinking about who we wanted to help, foster teens stood out to me. They’re at a stage in life where confidence and identity matter so much, yet many don’t have reliable access to even basic essentials. I realized that something as simple as a hygiene kit can make a real difference in how someone feels about themselves.”

Jind Sodhi added, Foster teens already go through so much, and lacking basic essentials shouldn’t be one of those challenges. As a community, we owe it to ourselves to lift each other up, and that’s why something as simple as providing personal care items can have a real impact.”

Jeet concluded, “Through 4-H, where so many opportunities center around leadership, I’ve learned that leadership isn’t just about understanding problems. It’s about stepping up and taking action. If we have the ability to help, we should, even if it is in small ways.”
