ROCKWALL, TX (April 3, 2026) — Rockwall-based author Shanna Upchurch is celebrating a major milestone with the release of her debut children’s book, The Honeybee Highway, published by Disney.
The exciting news doesn’t stop there—Upchurch already has three additional titles slated for release with major (Big Five) publishers over the next two years.
To mark the occasion, Upchurch will host a community book launch event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Barnes & Noble. The event is expected to draw a crowd of more than 200 attendees and promises a fun, interactive experience for families across the area.
Guests will enjoy a live reading of The Honeybee Highway, book signings, and a variety of hands-on, bee-themed activities. From trying on real beekeeping gear to sampling honey produced by Upchurch’s own backyard bees, the event offers a sweet and educational experience for all ages. Attendees can even test their “queen bee” spotting skills and take home a signed copy of the newly released picture book.
The launch party highlights not only a personal achievement, but also a moment of pride for the Rockwall community—showcasing local talent making a national impact in children’s literature.
