Rockwall County, TX – April 21, 2026 – On May 11, 2026, at approximately 3:25 pm, emergency personnel from the McLendon-Chisholm Fire Department, Rockwall County EMS, and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at a construction site near the intersection of Costa Verde Drive and Torrente Drive in McLendon-Chisholm.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a male subject unresponsive, reportedly run over by an excavator. Medical personnel with the McLendon-Chisholm Fire Department and Rockwall County EMS determined the male subject to be deceased and requested a Justice of the Peace to the scene. The deceased, later identified as William Werner, age 52, of Kaufman, Texas, was transported to the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident is under investigation by the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office and OSHA.
