Rockwall-Heath Senior Towdah Kiima Wins Top North Texas Theatre Honor, Advances to NYC

ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (May 12, 2026) Rockwall-Heath High School senior and standout member of the Stage Hawks Theatre Company, Towdah Kiima, earned high recognition at the 15th Annual Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) at the Music Hall at Fair Park on Saturday, May 2.

Towdah won the Outstanding Lead Performer Award for his performance in Hadestown: Teen Edition at Rockwall-Heath High School, competing against 10 other North Texas student nominees. This prestigious honor places Towdah among the top high school musical theatre performers in North Texas and qualifies him to advance to the national level. Towdah will represent Rockwall ISD and North Texas at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, commonly known as the Jimmy Awards, in New York City on June 22.

The Jimmy Awards recognize the nation’s most talented high school musical theatre performers and will feature 116 nominees from 58 U.S. regions, showcasing excellence in acting, singing, and dance.

Towdah and the other regional nominees will travel to New York City to participate in a rigorous theatre intensive that includes coaching sessions, training, and rehearsals led by some of Broadway’s most accomplished professionals. Nominees will perform in a talent showcase leading up to the announcement of winners.
In addition to Towdah’s individual achievement, Heath High School’s theatre program was also recognized with nominations for Outstanding Music Direction, Costume Design, Scenic Design, and Outstanding Ensemble. The production also garnered three additional Outstanding Lead Performer nominations for Emily Ford, Luke Evans, and Toviel Kiima, further highlighting the strength and artistry of the entire Stage Hawks Theatre Company.
