Friendly Rivalry, Full Bellies: Texas Roadhouse Hosts Inaugural Coaches Rib-Eating Challenge

Heath Claims Bragging Rights as Local Students Benefit

ROCKWALL, TX (July 14, 2026) — Bragging rights, community spirit, and plenty of Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs were all on the menu Monday evening as Texas Roadhouse in Rockwall hosted its first-ever Coaches Rib Relay, pitting six coaches from Rockwall High School against six coaches from Rockwall-Heath High School in a lively competition benefiting local students.

The inaugural event brought together fans from both schools for an evening of spirited rivalry and community fun, as coaches raced relay-style through half slabs of Texas Roadhouse’s signature ribs. One coach at a time tackled a half rack before tagging in the next teammate until all six members of each team had finished.

When the sauce settled, the Heath Hawks claimed the inaugural Coaches Rib Relay title, earning a $500 donation from Texas Roadhouse to their Booster Club. The Rockwall Yellowjackets didn’t go home empty handed; they were presented with a $250 donation.

Representing Rockwall High School were Trey Brooks, Ryan Soderquist, Steve Bridges, Brent Young, Randy Bermea, and Cale Barnes.

Competing for Rockwall-Heath High School were Josh Hickman, Ryan Martin, Ryan Courtney, Tanner Antle, Taylor Daniels, and Dillon Jordan.

The event was organized by Texas Roadhouse Managing Partner Terry Roan and Local Store Marketers Ansley Roan and Becky Nabors as another example of the restaurant’s commitment to giving back to the Rockwall community. While Texas Roadhouse is known for its Hand-Cut Steaks, Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs, Made-From-Scratch Sides, Fresh-Baked Bread, and lively dining atmosphere, Monday’s competition showcased another part of its mission—bringing people together while supporting local schools.

“At Texas Roadhouse Rockwall we love to support our community! We are so thankful for our wonderful schools and all the teachers, coaches, and staff that pour into the kids!” said Terry Roan.

The relay format kept spectators cheering from start to finish as teammates encouraged one another and friendly school rivalry fueled the competition. Fans from both schools packed the restaurant, creating a playoff-like atmosphere complete with laughter, applause, and plenty of good-natured banter.

Regardless of which team took home the big prize, the evening proved to be a win for both schools and the Rockwall/Heath communities, demonstrating how a little friendly competition can make a meaningful impact for local student programs.

Texas Roadhouse, located at 912 E. Interstate 30 in Rockwall, is well known for supporting area schools, nonprofits, and community organizations through fundraising events and local partnerships. Organizers hope the inaugural Coaches Rib Relay is just the first of many opportunities to bring the community together for some legendary fun while giving back.
