Shoes for Kids to outfit more than 2,100 Rockwall County students for back-to-school season

ROCKWALL, TX (July 21, 2026) — Hundreds of volunteers will come together this Saturday, July 25, for the annual Shoes for Kids event at First United Methodist Church Rockwall, helping ensure more than 2,100 local children start the school year with a new pair of shoes and other essential items.

For the past 20 years, Shoes for Kids has provided children from underprivileged families throughout Rockwall County with new school shoes, socks and dental hygiene supplies. What began in 2005 serving 179 children has grown into one of the community’s largest back-to-school outreach efforts, distributing more than 20,000 pairs of shoes over the past two decades.

A ministry of First United Methodist Church Rockwall, Shoes for Kids is made possible through partnerships with area churches, civic organizations and countless community volunteers who work together each year to prepare and distribute the items on the church campus.

Organizers invite the community to join them on Saturday as volunteers help local students head back to school with confidence and the essentials they need for a successful start to the new academic year.
