AUSTIN, TX (Aug. 13, 2026) — State Representative Katrina Pierson (HD-33) today announced the Texas Women’s Health Initiative, a legislative package focused on prevention, early detection, treatment access, and protecting the physician-patient relationship.
“For decades, women have been used by special interests looking to score political points, while many of the everyday health issues affecting women remain unresolved,” said Rep. Pierson. “We are setting aside the discussions on abortion, birth control, and IVF to focus on health issues that impact all women across Texas.”
The Texas Women’s Health Initiative focuses on practical reforms throughout a woman’s life, including:
Hormone Baseline Testing: Improve coverage for early hormone testing to establish a baseline.
Perimenopause and Menopause Treatment: Improve access to physician-prescribed hormones, compounded medications, and laboratory monitoring.
Iron Access: Expand standing orders to reduce unnecessary barriers to treat deficiency.
“Representative Pierson is bringing needed attention to areas of women’s health that have too often been overlooked,” said Speaker Dustin Burrows. “I appreciate her thoughtful approach to identifying where Texas can remove barriers, improve care, and deliver better outcomes for women across our state.”
“This is about correcting gaps in the system and improving access to care,” Pierson concluded.
State Representative Katrina Pierson represents Texas House District 33, including Rockwall County and portions of southern Collin County. She serves on the House Committees on Public Health and Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans’ Affairs, as well as the Subcommittee on Disease Prevention & Women’s and Children’s Health.
