ROCKWALL, TX (Aug. 4, 2026) The Rockwall County Library will present a powerful exhibition of artwork by Holocaust survivor and artist Sofia Davidson from Aug. 13 through Oct. 14, offering the community a deeply personal glimpse into life before, during and after the Holocaust.
Presented in partnership with the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission, the collection features paintings created by Davidson, a Polish Jewish artist who survived World War II after fleeing Poland and spending years in hiding and as a refugee with her family.
According to organizers, Davidson’s artwork captures the realities of Jewish life before the war, the trauma endured during the Holocaust, and the challenges of rebuilding afterward.
The library will celebrate the exhibit’s opening with a special opening presentation from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 13 (ages 18+ for opening event only with registration required at https://bit.ly/RCLSignUpGenius). Then the exhibit opens to the public, 7 to 8 p.m., no registration required.
“We are honored to bring this important exhibit to Rockwall County,” said Tenille Miller, children’s librarian. “The artwork offers a powerful opportunity for reflection, education and remembrance while helping preserve the stories of those who lived through one of history’s darkest chapters.”
