Claudette Hatfield Memorial Bowling Tournament Brings Community Together for Scholarships

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 6, 2026) — The inaugural Claudette Hatfield Memorial Bowling Tournament brought together friends, families, businesses, sponsors, and community supporters for an unforgettable evening of fellowship, friendly competition, and giving — all while raising funds to support future scholarship recipients in Rockwall County.

Hosted by the Republican Women’s Scholarship Fund, the event was held at Shenaniganz Entertainment Center in the Z Lounge and celebrated the life and legacy of Claudette Hatfield through an evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, spirited competition, and a shared commitment to investing in local students.

From the moment teams arrived, the energy throughout the venue was incredible. Bowlers came ready to compete, but the evening quickly became much more than the scores on the lanes. Teams cheered on one another, friendships were strengthened, new connections were made, and the room was filled with the kind of community spirit that makes Rockwall County so special.

“The atmosphere was everything we hoped it would be and more,” organizers shared. “Everywhere you looked, people were laughing, encouraging one another, and coming together for a purpose bigger than any one team.”

Throughout the evening, guests also competed against one another with the gift baskets featuring items generously donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. The support of sponsors, lane sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants helped make the tournament a tremendous success.

More importantly, every team registration, sponsorship, and donation helped further the mission of the Republican Women’s Scholarship Fund: providing scholarship opportunities for deserving students in Rockwall County.

The tournament was established in memory of Claudette Hatfield, whose life and legacy continue to inspire those who knew and loved her. Naming the event in her honor provided an opportunity not only to remember a remarkable woman, but also to carry her legacy forward by investing in the next generation.

“What better way to honor someone who made an impact than to continue making an impact in her name? This tournament allowed us to celebrate Claudette while bringing our community together to help create opportunities for young people right here in Rockwall County.”

Organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to every individual and business that played a role in making the inaugural event possible — from the teams who filled the lanes to the sponsors and donors who generously supported the scholarship fund.

The success of the first Claudette Hatfield Memorial Bowling Tournament demonstrated what can happen when a community comes together with a common purpose. It was an evening filled with competition, laughter, and fellowship, but its impact will continue long after the final bowling ball was rolled.

The Republican Women’s Scholarship Fund looks forward to continuing its mission of supporting Rockwall County students and building upon the success of this inaugural tournament.

The organization’s next major fundraising event will be its Annual Golf Tournament held at Buffalo Creek Golf Course on Thursday, April 8, 2027, providing another opportunity for the community to participate, sponsor, volunteer and help invest in the future of Rockwall County female students.
