Pink Pajama Drive Offers Community a Way to Support Breast Cancer Patients

ROCKWALL, TX (Oct. 3, 2026) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a local service opportunity is giving community members a simple way to offer comfort and encouragement to women recovering from breast cancer treatment and reconstructive surgery.

The Pink Project is collecting new pink pajamas for breast cancer patients through its Pink Pajama Drive. The pajamas are given to women following surgery as a practical source of comfort and a reminder that they are supported by their community.

Community members can participate individually or invite friends, neighbors, families, church groups and other organizations to collect pajamas together. Even a single donated pair can help brighten a difficult period in a patient’s recovery.

Because the pajamas are intended specifically for women recovering from surgery, donations must meet several requirements. All pajamas should be new and pink, and pajama tops must button in the front. Front-button tops can make it easier for patients with limited arm movement after surgery to dress themselves, helping them maintain independence and dignity during recovery.

Donors are also asked to select pajamas made from thin, soft and breathable fabrics, such as cotton or cotton-modal. Flannel, silk and satin pajamas should not be donated.

Visit The Pink Pajama Project on JustServe.org for additional details. Those wishing to participate can purchase qualifying pajamas through The Pink Project’s Amazon Wishlist.

The Pink Pajama Drive is one of many local volunteer opportunities that can be found through JustServe.org, a free community service platform that connects volunteers with organizations and projects in their area. JustServe allows individuals, families and groups to search for opportunities based on their location, interests, and availability.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Pink Pajama Drive offers community members a thoughtful and tangible way to support women facing breast cancer, one pair of pajamas at a time.
