ROCKWALL, TX (Dec. 15, 2021) Stevenson Elementary student, Braydon McDaniel, recently won the grand prize for his school’s fun run fundraiser: a Nintendo Switch.
His next step was to give it to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program so someone else could feel the joy of receiving such an amazing gift.
“Last Christmas, my dad got me a Nintendo Switch and that made me so happy,” said Braydon, “so I thought I should spread that joy with a kid who can’t afford one.”
With that goal in mind, Braydon received the max pledge per lap, which was $50 and ran the maximum number of laps allowed, which was 36. This earned him the grand prize, $1,800 for his school, including $180 to go towards his classroom. He even ran four extra laps for good measure.
“Braydon’s idea wasn’t what he or his class could get personally; it was ‘what else can I give?,’” said Principal Mike Pitcher. “Not a lot of people think like that and that makes Braydon pretty special.”
Braydon’s favorite game to play on the Nintendo Switch his father gave him is Mario Kart 8 and his favorite character is Yoshi.
