Richardson family seeks help in retrieving stolen iPad with precious family photos, movies
Hundreds of friends and supporters of six-year-old Avery Akeman gathered at Fairview Farms, just north of Parker/Central Expressway in Plano, Sunday, March 4 for a BBQ dinner fundraiser and auction.
The event was very successful, raising thousands of dollars with donated items such as a guitar signed by LeeAnn Rimes and a rifle signed by Ted Nugent.
Unfortunately, thieves broke into Paul Akeman’s car between 8:30 – 9 p.m. while he and wife Angie were inside wrapping up the event.
The thieves stole a 17″ HP Pavilion laptop, an iPad2 (which was a gift to Avery from a family in Oklahoma), a Benq LCD projector, an ATT Wireless Hotspot device, several electronic credit card readers and Angie’s black purse with several hundred dollars worth of gift cards inside.
Besides the monetary value of the items taken, the iPad has photos and movies which are very important to Avery. The iPad is engraved with a personal message on back, “Given with love to Sweet Avery – Al & Jere Litchenburg.” Anyone with information can email paul@ apaulakemanproduction.com.
Avery Akeman of Richardson has had medical issues since her premature birth April, 2005. Avery has spent more than 400 days in the hospital and endured more than 20 surgeries. She has five standing appointments each week with many others added as needed. She has immune deficiencies that prevent her from attending school or playing with children her age. While Avery’s parents remain hopeful, the journey has been long.
