ROCKWALL, TX (March 9, 2022) The Civilian Professional of the Year Award is given to a civilian employee for distinguished service to the police department. Kayla Sorensen started at the Rockwall Police Department in August 2020 as a Communications Specialist in our Communications Center. A Communications Specialist answers 911 calls, non-emergency calls, and dispatches officers to calls for service. She has excelled in the performance of her job duties as a dispatcher. Kayla has received two commendations for her assistance in two different disturbances as well as a commendation for her work in a theft. Kayla also received a commendation for a criminal mischief call that she worked. She has demonstrated dependability and eagerness to work. She was one of our top three dispatchers in call taking by answering over 4,000 calls in 2021.
Kayla has shown great customer service to the citizens she speaks with and is highly respected by her peers. Please join us in congratulating our 2021 Civilian Professional of the Year, Kayla Sorensen.
