ROCKWALL, TX (Feb. 14, 2024) Grant DuBois has filed election paperwork to fill the Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees, Place 3 vacancy.
“As a parent of two children who attend our schools and the husband of a former Rockwall ISD school nurse, it is imperative to me that our District continues down a path of conservative and controlled growth,” DuBois said. “To remain one of the best school districts in Texas, we must continue to protect the best interests of our students and teachers first to set them up for success. This is non-negotiable to me. I am running to ensure that we continue approaching our growth from a fiscally responsible viewpoint, while always prioritizing the needs of our students and teachers across the District.”
Grant and his family moved to Rockwall County in 2014 when he began his career as an Assistant District Attorney for Rockwall County. Since then, Grant has served as one of the longest-tenured presidents of the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club, is an active member of Rockwall Noon Rotary, is an advisory board member for the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA, and is the current president of the of Rockwall County Bar Association. “As a former Rockwall County prosecutor, service to our community is close to my heart. I will approach my responsibilities as a Board of Trustees member knowing that the decisions we make will have a direct and immediate impact not only on my own children, but on all of our children’s education in our Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath schools. Having Board members with children in the District brings unique and important perspectives to the Board.”
Since leaving the Rockwall County District Attorney’s Office, Grant has built a practice as a commercial real estate and public finance attorney, which uniquely positions him to best serve the District.
“Part of my job is to review terms and financial data to determine whether the best interests of my clients are protected when they budget and spend funds. This routinely involves analyzing state and local government codes, so making financial decisions with large-scale implications that fall within the bounds of the law is something I do on a daily basis. My skills and experience in this area will serve the District well,” he said.
Grant has served as a volunteer coach for many of his children’s various sports teams, and now coaches his son’s flag football team through RYCA Sports. Grant and his wife Sarah share an 8-year-old daughter, Charlotte, and a 6-year-old son, Cooper, who both attend Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary.
“The District has given so many great opportunities to us and our kids. I cannot wait for the chance to serve and make sure that all of our teachers and students enjoy ample opportunities for growth and success. I look forward to being your next Board of Trustees member.”
Early voting for RISD Board of Trustees begins on Monday, April 22 and will continue through Tuesday, April 30. Election day is Saturday, May 4.
