ROCKWALL, TX (Aug. 20, 2024) – Helping Hands, which has been providing back-to-school supplies to local students, recently hosted its 20th annual Back-to-School event in partnership with First United Methodist Church, local volunteers, and the North Texas Food Bank. The event continues its mission of supporting Rockwall County students by providing essential resources needed to attend school.

Because of the faithful gifts of area residents, Helping Hands was able to give school supplies and backpacks to 1900 Rockwall County students. Through their partnership with North Texas Food Bank, the Food Pantry was able to give an entire box of groceries to each family that attended. First United Methodist Church, a dedicated partner in this event, donated shoes to students in need. Additionally, the Helping Hands Health Center conducted free physicals and immunizations to help every family prepare for the upcoming school year. Numerous other local community groups joined in this effort, uniting to ensure that students across Rockwall County have the tools and support they need for a successful academic year.

“Because of your generous support, we were able to provide 1,900 Rockwall County students with school supplies and backpacks. Together, when we all care for children, we uplift entire families,” said Tarren Oswald, Assistance & Referral Director. “Your contributions to Helping Hands make this possible, and the impact of your kindness reaches far beyond what words can express. Thank you for making a difference in our community.”
