Rockwall County, TX (September 24, 2024) – Providence Academy – a Christian, Classical, University Model® private school in Rockwall – officially broke ground on its new legacy campus Sunday afternoon in a ceremony that brought together school leadership, staff, community supporters, students and families.
Located on 10 acres near the intersection of FM 276 and Sabine Creek Road in Rockwall County, the new $11 million, 52,000 sq. ft. facility is scheduled to open in 2025 and will accommodate 450 students in grades K4 -12. Providence has hired Gardner Construction for the project.
Founded in 2009 by early childhood educator Rebecca Hunt, who currently serves as the school’s Lower School Principal, Providence welcomed five kindergarten students its first year. Since then, the school has experienced steady expansion, outgrowing five leased church spaces over the course of its 16-year history. For the past 6 years, Providence has called Chisholm Baptist Church in McLendon-Chisholm home, but at its current enrollment of 289 students, has reached that facility’s capacity.
The groundbreaking at Sabine Creek Ranch was the culmination of 4 years of planning and fundraising, opening a new chapter in the school’s pursuit of its foundational mission.
“The vision of Providence Academy has always been to partner with parents to raise up the next generation of Christ-centered leaders,” said Providence Head of School Alissa Mauldin. “Our new
campus will enable us to partner with even more families who share that vision.”
The new Providence Academy campus will feature 28 classrooms, a dedicated science lab, fine arts classrooms, a library, gymnasium with separate workout facility, and a stage for theatre productions. Phase II plans include the addition of a football stadium.
At the conclusion of the groundbreaking ceremony, Rebecca Hunt prayed for the days ahead. “Collectively, we say ‘Yes, Lord, again to Your call,'” she said. “We are excited and honored to be chosen for this worthy mission. We believe this legacy campus will be instrumental in building strong families, faithful disciples and Christ-centered leaders … Your Word says children are a heritage from the Lord and are like arrows in the hand of a warrior … May we not forget all your benefits but with intentionality be committed to pass them along to the next generation.”
