Sons of the American Revolution recognize Rockwall hero
(Rockwall) April 16, 2012 – Deputy Keven Rowan of the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Department was named a Rockwall Hero by the Sons of the American Revolution last week. Deputy Rowan has received local, area, and national recognition for saving the lives of two young women who were trapped in a submerged vehicle in Lake Ray Hubbard.
The video captured by his dashboard video camera has been featured on all major national networks, the Huffington Report, You Tube, and other online news sources.
Rowan was named Texan of the Week by the Texas State Networks Radio, recognized at a North Texas Crime Commission breakfast where the two women he saved thanked him personally, and lauded in meetings of the Rockwall County Commissioner’s Court and Rockwall City Council.
The latest honor comes from a group of men who know a lot about America and her heroes. The SAR is a “lineage” society, meaning that each member has traced his family tree back to an ancestor who supported the cause of the American Independence during the years 1774 – 1783.
Members of the East Fork Trinity Chapter of the SAR made the presentation at the regular meeting of the Rockwall County Commissioners Court.
The Chapter serves the Communities of Rockwall, Forney, Heath, Rowlett, Garland, Sunnyvale and Mesquite.
The East Fork Trinity Chapter meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Texas Land and Cattle Company restaurant (next to the Bass Pro Shop).
Guests interested in the American Revolution are always welcome to attend the meetings.
Men interested in membership are invited to contact the Chapter Registrar Allen Christian at alcjec@sbglobal.net.
