Run House runners gather at the Rockwall Courthouse for a recent 5 am run.
ROCKWALL, TX (March 7, 2026) – At the starting line of the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2026, seven Rockwall area runners will join an elite field to compete in the world’s oldest, most prestigious annual marathon. This year, all seven Rockwallians are women ages 35 to 65 with backgrounds as diverse as dentistry, banking, and teaching. All are members of The Run House Rockwall owned by Miranda Hyvl.
“Participating in the Boston Marathon is an honor, and we are proud of our representation at this year’s event,” said Hyvl, who herself qualified for the race, marking her 7th appearance. The other locals set to run include Kathy Smith, Mary Courtin, Marni Sanders, Carrie Varner, Jessica Carney, and Diana Sterling.
Race organizers report that even among the 33,249 applicants whose race times qualified them, only 24,362 were accepted to stride the famous 26.2-mile course which winds through the city’s historic streets and neighborhoods, and to be cheered on by approximately 500,000 spectators.
Since the early 2000’s, most of these Rockwall runners have trained together and traveled to races throughout the metroplex, U.S. and abroad to Marathon Major’s including London, Berlin and Tokyo, Hyvl said.
Meanwhile here at home, every Tuesday and Friday at 5 a.m., twelve to 30 runners assemble to pound out distances of 3-8 miles. Thursdays at 6 p.m., the Run House hosts a beginners run and walk. All training runs kick off at 811 Yellow Jacket Lane across from the Rockwall County Courthouse.
The first Wednesday of each month, the group gathers at Luigi’s restaurant for “Eat Pasta Run Fasta” social time.
Every other month, The Run House partners with Racquet & Jog for shoe vendor demos such as Hoka & Brooks to do social runs from the store. The group also meets at many local races to compete together, cheer each other on, and work towards achieving individual goals.
“We all share a love of running, walking and being fit,” said Varner, whose 2026 Boston Marathon will be her 14th. “But equally, we’re a community of friends and mutual support,” she added.
The Run House at 811 Yellow Jacket Lane offers a Recovery Lounge consisting of compression boots, foam rollers, massage guns and other equipment and personal coaching. Memberships are available but not required to participate in the organization’s training and social events.
