ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (April 8, 2026) As Captain of the Rockwall-Heath Highsteppers, Maya Gulati has spent her senior year leading with both skill and dedication. The Rockwall-Heath High School senior, daughter of Rainu and Ajay Gulati, has been passionate about dance for many years, dedicating herself to competitive dance from third through twelfth grade at Rockwall Dance Academy and Dance FX.
Reflecting on her dance journey, Maya says she is most proud of how far the Highsteppers program has grown and everything the team has accomplished together. Through her time on the team, she developed stronger leadership skills, refined her dance ability, and built character traits she will carry with her into the future. Maya says she is especially grateful for the lasting memories and friendships formed throughout her years of dance.
Academically, Maya ranks in the top two percent of her class and is involved in numerous honor societies, including the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Dance Honor Society.
Outside of dance and school, Maya enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as shopping and baking.
After graduation, Maya plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where she will major in public health. She hopes to eventually pursue a career in the field of optometry. Congratulations, Maya!
