ROCKWALL, TX (April 9, 2026) Maddy Yocum is a senior at Rockwall-Heath High School and the daughter of Amy and Brad Yocum. She currently serves as the 1st Lieutenant of the Rockwall-Heath High School Highsteppers. Maddy began her dance journey in Pennsylvania at Dance Fusion, where she trained for six years before continuing her passion in Alabama at Make Your Move Dancing and Performing Arts Center. After moving to Texas, she danced at Studio 3:23 Dance and Performing Arts Center for five years. She joined drill team in 8th grade and has been a dedicated member ever since.
Reflecting on her dance career, Maddy shares that she is most proud of serving as an officer on drill team. Through this role, she discovered a passion for leadership and learned the importance of supporting her teammates while continuing to push herself to grow. Drill team has shaped her not only as a dancer, but as a person—teaching her responsibility, teamwork, and how to lead with confidence. The friendships and memories she has made along the way mean everything to her.
Academically, Maddy is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and a two-year member of Mu Alpha Theta and Rho Kappa.
Outside of dance, Maddy loves spending time with her family on the boat, especially wake surfing and watching the sunset. She also enjoys going to church, spending time with friends, grabbing a sweet treat, and listening to country music.
Following graduation, Maddy plans to attend Dallas Baptist University, where she will major in business with a possible focus in marketing. She hopes to continue her dance career by trying out for the university’s dance team. Maddy is excited to pursue a strong education and build a successful future, with the goal of creating a life centered on stability, strength, and love for her future family. Congratulations, Maddy!
