Ericka Ledferd launches campaign for Texas State Board of Education District 9

Community Leaders Invited to May 4 KickOff

ROKWALL, TX (April 15, 2026) — Ericka Ledferd, candidate for the Texas State Board of Education District 9, will officially launch her campaign with a public kickoff event on May 4 at 6:30 PM at the Harry Myers Community Center in Rockwall.

The event will bring together community members, educators, and leaders in education and pedagogy to begin a collaborative effort focused on the future of public education in Texas.

Ledferd’s campaign centers on three core priorities: Protecting public schools from privatization schemes. Guiding Texas classrooms responsibly through the AI era. Strengthening curriculum to create real opportunity for the next generation.

“As our education system faces rapid change, we have a responsibility to approach it with clarity, purpose, and collaboration,” said Ledferd. “This campaign is not just about policy, it’s about bringing people together to think seriously about what our students need to succeed in a changing world.”

Ledferd is calling on educators, researchers, community leaders, and families to actively engage in shaping the direction of public education.

“The future of education cannot be decided in isolation,” Ledferd added. “It will require the participation of all of us, educators, parents, and communities to ensure we are strengthening, not weakening, our public schools.”

The May 4 kickoff event will serve as both a campaign launch and an open invitation for those committed to public education to connect, collaborate, and contribute to a shared vision for Texas schools.
