ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (April 20, 2026) This past Saturday, April 18, New Citizen Certificates were presented to members of our community who recently became U.S. citizens.
Rockwall County Judge Frank New administered the Naturalization Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America.
Patriotic Singers Gail Lasky, Barbara Matthews, Jamie Rubush, and Debbie Weigant opened with the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, and later performed America The Beautiful and This Land is Your Land.
Adding a touch of symbolism, Lady Liberty herself—portrayed by Friends of the Library member Jan Self—stood as a reminder of hope and opportunity.
The library’s Adult Literacy Center offers free U.S. citizenship preparation classes for adults seeking to learn English, improve literacy, and prepare for the citizenship exam. Those interested are encouraged to check the library’s website or call ahead to confirm availability and required materials. The program welcomes volunteers to assist with tutoring. No teaching experience is required; free training is provided.
