ROYSE CITY, TX (July 27, 2026) On Thursday, July 23, 2026 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Royse City Police Department responded to the Regal Apartments in the 300 Block of North Erby Campbell on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, a 50-year-old female resident, outside her apartment. The victim was conscious and bleeding from a knife wound to her back. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.
The suspect in the aggravated assault has been identified as Eric Joe Johnson. The victim advised she had been in a dating relationship with the suspect. Eric Johnson is a registered sex offender and recently registered with the Dallas Police Department on 6/29/26 as transient living behind a pawn shop. Eric Joe Johnson is described as a 56-year-old Black Male who is 5ft, 7in tall, weighing 160 lbs. with short black dreadlocks. He is known to drive a gold, 2006 Cadillac Sedan with TX LP XLP9366.
An arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon has been issued for Eric Joe Johnson. He is considered violent/dangerous and anyone who comes in contact with Eric Johnson should immediately call 911. Anyone with information on Eric Joe Johnson’s whereabouts is also asked to call the Royse City Police Department at 972-204-7001. Those with information and wishing to remain anonymous may contact the Rockwall County Crime Stoppers at 972-771-TIPS who is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of Eric Joe Johnson. There is no further information at this time.
