Eagle Scout Completes Heartfelt Service Project to Support Healing at Catalyst Ranch

ROCKWALL, TX )July 27, 2026) – Jessica Delzell, a member of Girl Scout Troop 1524 and one of the original founders of the troop in Rockwall, has earned her Eagle Scout rank by transforming an outdoor space at Catalyst Ranch into a welcoming haven for women recovering from sexual exploitation and extreme abuse.

Delzell, whose father and brother are also Eagle Scouts, spent more than a year planning and executing the project after being introduced to Catalyst Ranch by Lakeshore Church.

Catalyst Ministries is a Christian 501c3 non profit organization that provides support for survivors of human trafficking through a variety of key services. We work with churches, the local community and national partners to impact the lives of those who have endured so much. Please join us in the fight against human trafficking and visit our website at catalystministries.net to donate and find out more about our work.

The project focused on beautifying and enhancing the back patio area at the ranch, creating a peaceful outdoor retreat where residents can relax, visit, read, or simply enjoy fresh air in a safe and comforting environment.

Project Highlights Include:

  • Installation of a 200 sq. ft. decomposed granite area with improved drainage to eliminate standing water
  • Planting of five rose bushes and five Nandina plants for color and beauty
  • Refinishing and refreshing outdoor couches, cushions, tables, and hanging chairs
  • Addition of a large patio fan, small outdoor stereo, hanging Edison bulbs, bird feeders, wall art, pillows, and insect-repelling plants
  • Landscaping improvements for comfort, low maintenance, and visual appeal

The completed space now offers a bright, welcoming atmosphere with comfortable seating and relaxing features tailored to the needs of the women in recovery.

More than 300 volunteer hours went into the project, which faced weather challenges including a rainout on the original work date. A dedicated group returned to finish the work across multiple days in early May 2026.

Significant community support made the project possible, with generous donations totaling approximately $2,000 in materials, plants, tools, and rentals. Jessica extends a special thank you to the following donors:

  • Mike Jones and Phyl Hurst at The Home Depot in Rockwall
  • Alyssa Ramsey at Classic Rock Stoneyard
  • Land Art of Rockwall
  • Tina McCollum and Lakeshore Church

“Jessica wanted to find a cause she could truly be proud of,” said her family. “We couldn’t be prouder of her achievement and are grateful that Scouting USA continues to uphold high standards of service for young women as well as young men. They are deserving of every recognition that comes with becoming an Eagle Scout.”

This project reflects the best of community spirit—youth leadership, family involvement, church partnership, and local business generosity—coming together to create a meaningful, lasting impact for women on their healing journey.
